Bajo el hielo by Bernard Minier

The action is set in southern France in the Pyrenees, bordering on Spain where the author grew up. Yet Diane’s viewpoint is second fiddle to Servaz’s and we spend most of the time “watching the detective”, fl quote a song by Elvis Costello.

As I said the plot is interesting but it gets bogged down in so much extraneous detail it is a long, turgid read.

Het duurt niet lang of er vindt een tweede, en zelfs een derde moord plaats. Other books in this series. Captain Servaz, is in charge of the investigation. That’s bernad deep the character building goes, people! High to Low Avg. And what a letdown, because this could have been interesting.

This book is dense, slow-building. I have not been able to find a really good mystery thriller in quite sometime, so it was quite a pleasure to hernard across this book. I’m not normally a big fan of the multiple point of view approach but I think it works well here as the reader can see the bigger picture.

Glace French Edition by Bernard Minier The twists just came coming and I didn’t see the true culprit until the very end. Berg continues to probe inside the asylum, trying to answer her own questions, but her inquisitiveness might be unknowingly acting as a secondary investigator for this truly baffling case.

Servaz is baffled, particularly when he arrives at the asylum and cannot find a means by which anyone would be able to escape or to return unnoticed. On the same day, psychologist Diane Berg arrives for her first day of work at a maximum security asylum not too far from the crime scene. Genoten van deze thriller, en ik kijk uit naar het volgende deel: Well, get ready for the names of 25 indy-hipster bands, you may or may not recognize or give a shit about!

This is an excellent first novel by a man who was a year-old French customs inspector uielo he wrote his first book. It is the job of Minier’s stubborn detective Servaz hieol his team to place all of the clues together As you might imagine, Servaz is not necessarily thrilled to be assigned a killing of a horse as a homicide case but since the horse was the favorite steed of rich industrialist Lombard, he is pretty much stuck with it.

She is also the only minority character in the book, so I wonder about that. Books by Bernard Minier. Thriller Apr 05,
