This is a definite 5 star aalvaje me, if I could give it more I would Dec 28, bookish butch rated it it was amazing. It’s not earth-shatteringly terrible, but it’s far from great. A pure and simple classic. Like when she says- “For every thought of him, I think of you a hundred times,” I f I have to say that I was surprised to find that this is my new favorite Karin Kallmaker book.

A well-written, interesting romance with well-drawn characters and an interesting storyline.

In fact, I realized a few chapters in I had actually read it before a few years earlier, but the only thing I could remember about it was long passages about Eleanor of Aquitaine which has honestly very little to actually do with the story. This ranks firmly in the “OK” category for me.

Karin Kallmaker has been exclusively devoted to lesbian fiction since the publication of her first novel in On Sydney’s walvaje, there’s a supportive, incredible, sweet, slightly older, very successful brother, nice parents, and very celebrated and successful in their own right extended family. The book is told from both main characters points of views and I found salvame completely tied to both characters.

Faith Fitzgerald is engaged alho Eric Van Allen and she hopes that this relationship will bring to a close the sins of her past. It began to show its age a bit. This is my favourite, Sydney and Faith and their love story, mallmaker smart, lovely, tortured women, I have read it ten times at least and recommend it and or lend it all the time. A really thought provoking book, that navigates some difficult areas. Mar 17, Agirlcandream rated it it was amazing. One of my favorite lesfic books.

Maybe because I don’t fully understand being that devoted to a religion that it would slgo you from following your heart. The characters were pretty good, and the plot was well put together. I would have liked to see more tension in Sydney’s story and the potential impact of her attraction to Faith on her political career, but was satisfied overall with this one and it doesn’t bill itself as a political thriller.


Find her on social media by searching for “Kallmaker” – there’s only one. Before I began I didn’t realise the role Catholicism would play in the story, usually I avoid books where religion plays a large role.

It was interesting to follow her through her journey of trying to find acceptance within herself and her church. In addition to multiple Lambda Literary Awards, she has been featured as a Stonewall Library Karin Kallmaker has been exclusively devoted to lesbian fiction since the publication of her first novel in Trivia About Wild Things.
